Seiko is known for producing some of the best dive watches out there in the market. From entry level models, all the way up to the professional technical watches with high end specifications. In addition to that, Seiko have started to committing to protect to environment as to where these dive watches are meant to be used, the oceans.

As such, Seiko have started the “Save The Ocean” project in 2018, with the grandson of the legendary ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau, where special edition watches were made, and donates proceeds from these special edition models will go to sea conservation and environmental organizations. Instead of re-using the ocean related theme, this years Save The Ocean Special Edition watch models were inspired by the landscape of the world’s largest marine sanctuary: Antarctica.

The two special editions watch models are the Seiko Prospex Baby Tuna & Monster “Save The Ocean Antarctica” SRPG57K1 and SRPG59K1. The dial’s graduated color and texture echo the white-blue views of the area created by light reflected on the ice, whilst the penguin footprints represent the dwindling numbers of its inhabitants.

The Antarctica Monster SRPG57K1 operates with the 4R36 automatic movement, 41 hours charge reserve, 24 jewels, stainless steel case of 42.4 m/m diameter and 13.4 m/m thickness, 187gr weight, iced blue dial, day/date window at 3, indices and gray hands with Superluminova treatment, screw-down crown, screw-in caseback, water resistant 20 BAR (200 meters), hardlex crystal, stainless steel bracelet.

Since 1965, Seiko has continuously exceeded the limits in diver surveillance technology. Today, two milestones in this illustrious history are honored in the new creations of Prospex. In 1968, Seiko announced the first high-tech diving in Japan and, ten years later, the world’s first quartz saturation diving watch was created. Now, these two world-important timepieces are remembered in commemorative creations that bring the latest in high-tech watchmaking from Seiko to those who work and enjoy the underwater world.

These Seiko Prospex “Save The Ocean” Antarctica special edition watch models, SRPG59K1 (Tuna)610.00USD and SRPG57K1 (Monster)590.00US, are now available to be purchased at your local Seiko authorized dealer shops.
