Swatch & NASA Bioceramic Space Watch Collection

Swatch have recently collaborated with American Space Agency “NASA”, with a collection of five watch models that was inspired from NASA’s colors and spacesuits garment designs. The main attraction for this space collection is the new Bioceramic material that was used to make the watch. In short, Bioceramic is two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-sourced plastic – and amounts to the perfect balance of having a luxuriously silky touch, while also being super tough and robust enough for everyday wear.

The Swatch * NASA Space watch collection is made up of a trio of extra-large Big Bold watches with Bioceramic cases, along with a pair of more classical Gent models in regular plastic. The Big Bold Chrono Extravehicular (white), is inspired by the spacesuits astronauts use to perform spacewalks aboard the International Space Station, notably the iconic spacesuit worn in 1983 by Story Musgrave and Donald Peterson. The Big Bold Chrono Launch (orange), the bright orange color was inspired from the Advanced Crew Escape Suit, or ACES — the “pumpkin” suit that astronauts wore to launch and land on the space shuttle from 1988 through 2011. The Big Bold watch in the set is the Jumpsuit (blue). The model was inspired from the everyday blue jumpsuits, or flight suits, that astronauts wear when making public appearances, press conferences, as well as training sessions.

The remaining two of the Space collection are more oriented towards to the old Swatch style. The “Space Race” model features a black and white color set was inspired by the 20th Century competition between the Soviet Union and the United States to achieve superior spaceflight ability.” The model has a silver-colored face with a mirror like finish. Last but not least is the “Take Me to the Moon” model, with its name from Frank Sinatra’s recording of “Fly Me to the Moon,” which was among the songs carried to the moon by the Apollo 11 first lunar landing crew in 1969. The model has a clear transparent case.

Whether you are a fan or Swatch or NASA, you can pick up any of the five models at a great price range from 85.00USD-165.00USD. For more details regarding the collaboration, please visit www.swatch.com
