Seiko’s SARB Alpinist watch was first introduced back in 1959 as a watch for becoming a reliable timepiece for Japanese mountain climbers and other sports enthusiasts. Since then, there has been a total of ten generations of Alpinist models that have been introduced to this date.
Up until now, one of the most commonly asked questions that I get from our fans and customers while working here at Strapcode for the past three years is none other than “When are we going to release a Super J Louis model watch band for the Seiko SARB Alpinist ?” Guess what! It’s finally here after three long years.
The SS201620B130, 20mm Super-JUB II Watch Band for Seiko Alpinist, 316L Stainless Steel Brushed V-Clasp, is a new version of our existing J Louis model watch band. The new Super -JUB II watch band now tapers down to 16mm instead of 18mm, weighs only 76 grams (approximately) instead of 80 grams, and the thickness of 3.3mm instead of the previous 3.4mm. The overall finish for the New Super -JUB II watch band is slimmer, lighter, and generally more refined.
The first custom curved end fitted J Louis model watch band for the SARB017 Alpinist was the SS201820B064, Angus-J Louis JUB Watch Band, which was made back in 2017. To this day, the SS201820B064 model bracelet has been one of our best sellers since its release. For those who do not know the main difference between the the Angus J Louis and Super J Louis watch bands is that the individual links for the Angus J Louis models watch bands are bigger, heavier, but sturdier.
However, as popular as the custom fitted Angus J Louis watch band for the Alpinist was, we started receiving emails after emails from our fans and customers commenting and suggesting to us that a Super J Louis model watch band would be much better and more suited for the Alpinist.

Personally, I don’t see much difference between the Angus J Louis & Super J Louis other than the size of the beads. That quickly changed my mind as soon as I saw the actual watch band during the product shoot. Seeing the smaller beads design from the Super J Louis on the Alpinist, it actually made me realized how much of a difference it was.
