PADI is the world’s top scuba diving training organization in the world. “PADI”, which stands for Professional Association of Diving Instructors, have nearly 6,300 PADI Dive Centers and Resorts, and more than 136,000 individual PADI Professionals who have issued more than 25 million certifications around the world.
Since 2016, Seiko has team up with PADI to release special edition dive watches on a yearly basis. This years PADI editions are once again two of Seiko’s most popular line of dive watches, the Prospex King Turtle SRPG19K1 & King Samurai SRPG21K1.
We’ll be focusing more on the SRPGK1 King Samurai, since its the watch we currently have on hand. The nick name “Samurai”, is named as such for its sword-shaped hands and angular case shape which looks as though it has been sliced by a Japanese Samurai sword.
This year’s King Samurai PADI watch features the PADI ‘Earth’ pattern on its dial, with a ceramic bezel along with a light arctic blue color – which guarantee high legibility when under waters or in low light situations.
In comparison, the King Samurai’s case comes in a little smaller on the wrist compared to the King Turtle, measuring at 43.8mm in diameter, 12.8mm in thickness and 48.7mm in length. It is water-resistant to 200m, features a sapphire crystal with AR coating and magnifier over the date.
